Afternoon Tea Traditions

One of my favourite English traditions has to be that of a traditional afternoon tea. There is just something so grand and warming about this age old tradition that has me longing for more everytime.

It wasn’t my first visit to Netherstowe House in Lichfield and it certainly won’t be my last, but this impressive hotel in Lichfield has a lot to offer. Welcomed by name upon arrival might seem a trivial nice to have but it really makes you feel welcome and goes a long way to make you feel relaxed in the environment.

A hoast of finger sandwiches, pork pies, quiche and mini fish cakes start of what is a delightful afternoon treat. Followed by tarts, cakes, macaroons and scones this afternoon tea will most defiantly have something for everyone.

Not only are the staff extremely helpful and attentive they are very happy to accommodate any dietary requirements that you might have with little fuss.

I opted for a little lace number paired with simple accessories for this dainty afternoon tea affair.

Neutral Territory

An indispensable and very much necessary part of any woman’s closet – Neutrals are a classic way to look simple and elegant with little fuss all year round.

Whatever time of year, those blush, white, beige and grey tones can create a statement of their own right. Either paired together for that dreamy head to toe nude look or used as a staple for building up bolder colours, these wardrobe essentials should be the basis for your capsule collection.

You can never go wrong with an all neutral look, keeping tones calming and simple has an element of a calming effect on me, until i am frantically trying not to get them dirty! Discovering the versatility of these colours is such a joy, they can quite literally pair up with anything making for an easy morning decision (always a winner in my books).

These high rise trousers are all about the detail, from the large turn up hems to the fantastic pleated and frilled waistband. The gorgeous blush colour pairs beautifully with a complimentary filled white blouse for added volume. Finally rose gold accessories tie the outfit together and give a little glamour to the simple tones.

Spring Brights

The bright days are here! Which means it is now okay to go bright.

Injecting a little colour into the work wear wardrobe is so key to help define the seasons. I’m not talking about going all out there, but instead finding the balance between fun and corporate. Keeping this in mind, i love to pair brights with white or black essentials to achieve that effortless boardroom style and show off my confident style.

This fantastic top not only ticks all the boxes for injecting a little colour, it also fulfills my lace obsession. The delicate fabric alongside the bright and vibrant colour is an instant winner in my books. Paired with a simple black pencil skirt and some high heel boots this classic look is perfect for spring days. Or if a more casual look is desired, this will look fantastic with a pair of white jeans and heels.

Be creative and stand out from the crowd by mixing up your wardrobe!

Layering three ways

If you have been following me, you will know how much i love versatile and very wearable items in my wardrobe. Those that will see me through many an occasion, fashion forward but also a classic that will see me through the trends.

When searching for a coat, i can usually trawl the length and breadth of a high street in search of just the right style, shape and colour…it can be quite an overwhelming experience and often hard to find ‘the one’.

So as soon as i saw this delightful navy number i instantly fell in love and knew that this coat would be a staple for many seasons to come. A transitional piece in more ways than one, i find i am wearing this to battle through the ever changing Spring season.

This by far is the most versatile coat i have seen on the market with its three way wear you will be sure to continue re-styling this look to suit any occasion; whether it be a full coat, cropped jacket or sleeveless jacket.

Unfortunately they are no longer selling this coat, but keep your eyes peeled on their website as i hope that they bring out a similar design this Autumn/Winter.

Giving the Cold Shoulder

The cold shoulder has been given a new meaning and is now a ‘must have’ in our fashion vocabulary, and is the term on everyone’s lips this season.

Yes girls, its time to start baring those shoulders!

Keeping it simple with a black knitted dress from River Island, this one is the perfect balance to battle those chiller but sunny days that are gracing the UK at the moment. With its long sleeves and high neckline it is super classy and totally wearable for any age. The ruffles on the shoulders are just an added extra!

Paired with a patterned bag for added impact and a pair of sunglasses, this outfit will see you though day to evening looks.

Let there be stripes

Who doesn’t love stripes?

Fashion’s favorite print for Spring/Summer 2017 is timeless and totally wearable, so why not find some serious space in your wardrobe for those stripes.

Whether you opt for multi-colour or monochrome, horizontal or vertical there is the stripe out there for you. This versatile print can be worn in a number of ways and is so perfect to match to your style and personality.

A simple blue and cream high neck top provides the perfect platform for this look, verging on the nautical look and paired with high-waisted trousers, this outfit is a chic and comfortable look for those chiller spring days.

Transitional Mustard

Transitioning your wardrobe from season to season is a masterful fashion feat and with the spring weather well and truly on its way its time to start thinking about the perfect additions to your wardrobe.

This time of year i like to incorporate a little more colour into my outfits and continue to dream of the brights that will eventually become my wardrobe staple for the warm summer months.

This slightly darker take on the colour yellow is universally flattering and adds that pop of colour to your wardrobe.

Try mixing textures as you transition your wardrobe, the heavy weight fabric of this skirt is perfect for those mixed weather days and the soft loose fit of the shirt keeps the outfit light and you cool for those warmer moments, whilst retaining the earthy tones from Autumn/Winter.
