Afternoon Tea Traditions

One of my favourite English traditions has to be that of a traditional afternoon tea. There is just something so grand and warming about this age old tradition that has me longing for more everytime.

It wasn’t my first visit to Netherstowe House in Lichfield and it certainly won’t be my last, but this impressive hotel in Lichfield has a lot to offer. Welcomed by name upon arrival might seem a trivial nice to have but it really makes you feel welcome and goes a long way to make you feel relaxed in the environment.

A hoast of finger sandwiches, pork pies, quiche and mini fish cakes start of what is a delightful afternoon treat. Followed by tarts, cakes, macaroons and scones this afternoon tea will most defiantly have something for everyone.

Not only are the staff extremely helpful and attentive they are very happy to accommodate any dietary requirements that you might have with little fuss.

I opted for a little lace number paired with simple accessories for this dainty afternoon tea affair.

Neutral Territory

An indispensable and very much necessary part of any woman’s closet – Neutrals are a classic way to look simple and elegant with little fuss all year round.

Whatever time of year, those blush, white, beige and grey tones can create a statement of their own right. Either paired together for that dreamy head to toe nude look or used as a staple for building up bolder colours, these wardrobe essentials should be the basis for your capsule collection.

You can never go wrong with an all neutral look, keeping tones calming and simple has an element of a calming effect on me, until i am frantically trying not to get them dirty! Discovering the versatility of these colours is such a joy, they can quite literally pair up with anything making for an easy morning decision (always a winner in my books).

These high rise trousers are all about the detail, from the large turn up hems to the fantastic pleated and frilled waistband. The gorgeous blush colour pairs beautifully with a complimentary filled white blouse for added volume. Finally rose gold accessories tie the outfit together and give a little glamour to the simple tones.

Spring Brights

The bright days are here! Which means it is now okay to go bright.

Injecting a little colour into the work wear wardrobe is so key to help define the seasons. I’m not talking about going all out there, but instead finding the balance between fun and corporate. Keeping this in mind, i love to pair brights with white or black essentials to achieve that effortless boardroom style and show off my confident style.

This fantastic top not only ticks all the boxes for injecting a little colour, it also fulfills my lace obsession. The delicate fabric alongside the bright and vibrant colour is an instant winner in my books. Paired with a simple black pencil skirt and some high heel boots this classic look is perfect for spring days. Or if a more casual look is desired, this will look fantastic with a pair of white jeans and heels.

Be creative and stand out from the crowd by mixing up your wardrobe!

Friday Frills

So its the end of the week and why not have a little fun with our workwear wardrobe!

This little Zara number is not only affordable for getting you though those never ending days at work, but its fun, chic and oh so comfortable.

There is nothing more corporate than a crisp white shirt…made even more on trend with these fantastic over the top statement ruffled shoulders. The bigger the better in this case…

I’ve balanced mine with these navy blue frill trousers to even out all those ruffles, but this shirt will make quite the statement with a pair of plain trousers or simple pencil skirt.
These trousers might just become my best friend, so keep an eye open for them making a reappearance!

Cosy Casuals

There is nothing better than an easy outfit that is not only warm and comfortable but smart casual too, this outfit for me ticks all the boxes! The perfect go to jumper for those days when you want that effortlessly put together look.

The knit is soft and is lined for even more warmth on those chiller days, finished with this beautiful sleeve detail.

I’ve paired mine with this fantastic pair of black leggings, which have a beautiful front seam to the legs and are finished off with elastic detailing to the top.

Black boots are also a go to for the mixed weather so that we are prepared for the showers.

Forever Ever-green

For me the best part about winter is the autumn months in the lead up to it, the beautiful colours of ambers, greens and golds as the trees begin to shed their leaves. As you might have guessed i am not one for wrapping up in layers and layers of clothes to combat the cold weather, but i have snatched the odd mild day to hold on to those beautiful autumnal colours that i just love.

The first thing that attracted me to this dress was the colour, but the neckline just sets this one apart. The choker neck allows just a hint of detailing on this otherwise simple dress and means that you can get away with wearing this with minimal jewellery.

If green really isn’t your colour, they also offer this in black, so why not opt for an all black number.

Paired with black ankle boots to combat the showers and a fedora for some added warmth, this outfit is perfect for that quick coffee or shopping spree.

Monochrome Moment

Black and white.

Although it may be the simplest of colour combinations it certainly makes for a striking statement in the world of fashion. The most flattering colour and arguably the most effortlessly chic, black will never go out of fashion…i mean if it was good enough for Audrey Hepburn, its good enough for me!

This outfit has recently become one of my favourites, its simple, comfortable and i have had so many people comment on how nice this skirt is (and lets face it who doesn’t like a compliment!).

I even opted to add a little extra punch of colour with this beautiful Chanel Rouge Allure Intense Long Wear Lip Colour in shade 104 – Passion. Not only does this pigment last throughout the day it is an unbelieveably intense colour and is true to shade.

Unfortunately both the skirt and the jumper is now discontinued but if you would like to re-create this look, shop my pick of similar items below:
